~ Think “Chocolate” ~
In 1909, the Quaker family and chocolatiers JS Fry & Sons (these days associated with products made by Cadbury such as Fry's Turkish Delight) gave money and land to help found the University of Bristol. In recognition the building into which the mathematicians in the photograph are walking is named The Fry Building. In the past it has housed Chemistry, Physiology and Biological Science departments. Since 2019, following a refurbishment that cost in excess of £31 million, it has been the home of The School of Mathematics.
