~ Steel City Get Together ~
In May 2023, The University of Sheffield organised a one day event for practicing and aspiring teachers of mathematics and statistics. Whether aiming to teach university undergraduates or A-Level students, the intention was to inspire and motivate those considering a career that included a teaching element. The event orbited around a collection of keynote speakers of considerable distinction; experts in their field. I attended as a long established teacher of Pure and Applied A-Level mathematics, but still keen to learn practical skills, theory, and insight into current educational concerns. Simply meeting with, and chatting to, similarly motivated people is always a large part of what such gatherings are about; exchanging ideas a great way to reinvigorate one's own interest in educational matters and perhaps find fellow mathematicians interested in a collaboration. This collection of nine images are a summary of the conference, as I experienced it.
